2018 Fantasy Football Side Action

Our first fantasy football side bet begins with picking the highest scoring fantasy football lineup from the six NFL night games in Week 3.

We still have a bad taste in our mouth from this past week’s fantasy football loss. We’re talking a Human Centipede level of bad taste.

But hey, the show must go on. Now that the first two weeks of NFL played out, fantasy football players are getting a sense of how their players will play out for the remainder of the season.

This bet focuses on the Thursday night, Sunday night, and Monday night games in Week 3. Thus, the three games are Jets/Browns, Pats/Lions, and Steelers/Bucs.

Our rules are simple:

  1. Pick a fantasy football team (one QB/RB/WR/TE/K/DEF). You may only pick one player on each of the six NFL teams in those games.

  2. Scoring is 0.4 PPR, and the same as our season-long league. However, the scoring for other positions is very similar to most ESPN leagues.

  3. The fee is $10 per entry. Each person may submit only one entry.

  4. Highest scoring team of the week gets all the cash. If multiple teams tie for the highest scoring lineup, then the winnings will be split evenly.

Only three out of twelve teams had the balls to step up and compete in this side bet. We’re disgusted with our league.

The lineups for each team, including ours, are below:

Team #1

QB: Matthew Stafford
RB: James Conner
WR: Mike Evans
TE: Rob Gronkowski
K: Jason Myers
DEF: Browns

Team #2

QB: Tom Brady
RB: James Conner
WR: Golden Tate
TE: OJ Howard
K: Jason Myers
DEF: Browns

QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick
RB: James Conner
WR: Jarvis Landry
TE: Rob Gronkowski
K: Matt Prater
DEF: Jets

Which Lineup Will Win?

On paper, the Jets/Browns matchup looks to be low scoring. Vegas oddsmakers agree. The Browns are also favored at home for the first time in forever.

Thus, it makes sense as to why the Browns and Jets defenses was picked.

On the flip side, both the Patriots/Lions and the Steelers/Bucs games look to be high scoring. The majority of oddsmakers set their highest O/U of the week for these latter two games.

Therefore, it makes sense as to why players from those four teams filled most of the skill positions.

Tune in next week to see the results!
